PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite ultrasonic wave transducer that is easily manufactured in which undesired lateral mode resonance is suppressed. SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of piezoelectric ceramic columns 2b included in a resin board 3b of a composite ultrasonic wave transducer 1b has a disk shaped lateral cross section and penetrates the resin board 3b in its broadwise direction. The piezoelectric columns 2b are placed in the resin board 3b in a way that each center axis of each piezoelectric column 2b on one major side corresponds to a position of each node of a regular triangle network.
