PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an SV measuring/state observing device of active sludge having a few drive portions. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an opening section 1 at the upper section and a sludge feed pipe 3 with an automatic check valve 2 at the bottom section 11. A transparent measuring tube 6 symmetrically fitted with a plurality of overflow pipes 5 so that the total cross sectional area becomes two times or more the cross sectional area of the sludge feed pipe 3 is vertically installed on the side face below the upper end 4 of the opening section 1, an active sludge liquid 7 is fed to the measuring tube 6 from the lower sludge feed pipe 3 by a sludge pump 8, and the feed is stopped when the inside of the measuring tube 6 is fully replaced with the active sludge liquid 7 to be measured. The automatic check valve 2 is closed, the active sludge liquid 7 to be measured is retained in the measuring tube 6, and the sludge capacity of the active sludge, the separation state of a precipitation boundary face and the color of the sludge are observed. |
