PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly and accurately discriminate whether an area for fetching distance and light measurement information is transferred or not by differentiating a standard to discriminate as to whether a focus detection area is being changed or not between discrimination by an inputted signal from a first specification means and discrimination by an inputted signal from a second specification means. SOLUTION: The standard for discriminating whether the focus detection area is being changed or not is differentiated between the case of discrimination by the inputted signal from the first focus detection area specification means and a case of the discrimination by the inputted signal from the second focus detection area specification means. Namely, the input of a switch 129 is discriminated and which of the lines of sight input and a joy stick is selected at present is discriminated by this device. When the lines of sight input is selected, a line of sight detecting position is fetched from a line of sight detecting circuit 106 and whether or not the change quantity of the fetched area is within a specified area is discriminated. When the joy stick is selected, joy stick input is fetched from a cross key 128, and whether or not the center of the fetched area is identical to the previous time is discriminated. |
