<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate a data cassette from other cassettes clearly. SOLUTION: A data storage cassette (data cassette) is a cassette in which a data storage tape is housed and which has a same outside shape and same dimensions as an existing cassette. An identification hole 40 with which it is identified whether a tape housed in the cassette is a data storage tape or a tape for other purpose is formed at a position adjacent to a reel lock releasing hole 36 drilled in the lower half of the cassette. As the identification hole 40 is formed in the lower half 20A, the existence of the identification hole 40 is detected (identified) by an identifyng means on the device main part side. If the identification hole 40 is detected, it is judged that a data cassette is loade and, if the identification hole 40 is not detected, it is judged that a cassette other than a data cassette is loaded. With this constitution, the types of the cassettes can be recognized easily and securely.</p> |
