METHOD FOR REMOVING DISTORTING AND ITS FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process an image to permit the reproduced image to have fidelity to an original image by judging an image element to be filtered and one not to be filtered by adaptability, resetting with the adaptability by a nonlinear filter in accordance with the judgement and also determining the value to be used with the adaptability. SOLUTION: A still image is compressed by a discrete cosine transformer(DCT) 1 of an encoder, a quantizer(Q) 2 and a variable length encoder(VLC) 3 with a still image encoding system where a distortion removing filter 7 is used. Decoding from a compressed bit stream is executed by a decoder which is constituted of a variable length decoder(VLD) 4, an inverse quantizer(IQ) 5 and an indiscrete cosine transformer(IDCT) 6 so as to generate a reproduced still image. The distortion filter 7 is provided with one of the configurations among the arrangement orders of a blocky noise removing filter and a ringing mosquito noise filter.
