[Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXV] A vibratory armature type combined motorgenerator comprises a vibrator with parts of opposite polarity disposed in air gaps in a core structure consisting of two similar core sections providing parallel paths for the vibrator flux, the magnetic mid-points of the two sections being interconnected by a further core section and the input and output coils being disposed on either side of said mid-points. In the form shown, each vibrator consists of magnetic reeds 17, 18 connected by rods 20 extending from a permanent magnet 19 into the air gaps between cores 11, 12, 14 and 15 and producing fluxes represented by the full line arrows. When A.C. is applied to the coils L<1> producing a flux represented by the dotted arrows the interaction of the fluxes causes vibration of the two upper reeds which is transmitted by the rods 20 to the lower reeds 17, 18, thereby modulating the direct flux in the lower part of the core and inducing current in the coils 2. The permanent magnets may alternatively connect the two upper and the two lower reeds. The core 15 may carry a winding in series with coils L<1> and core 14 may have one in series with coils L<2>. By adding condensers to the primary and secondary circuits, the structure may be used as a band-pass filter.
