PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deform a character string without spoiling its readability by deforming the respective characters in the character string in an (x) or (y) direction according to the composition direction of the character string. SOLUTION: An X/Y-directional deforming process part reads out data on the starting character in addition to a font name and a virtual character size S registered in composition data stored in an internal memory. From the read data on the character, the coordinates of respective vertexes P1 to P4 of a character frame 70 of the read virtual character size S are calculated. Then the coordinates of intersections a1 and a2 of the segment passing the middle points P' and P'' of sides (P1P3, P2P4) matching the composition direction among the sides of the character frame 70 and a figure are calculated. Then a rectangle 70A passing the intersections a1 and a2 is found and the coordinates of the respective vertexes R1 to R4 are calculated. Then the expansion and contraction ratio of the character frame of the rectangle 70A, i.e., the new character frame is calculated and registered in the composition data. |
