PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication apparatus capable of simplifying a system and the that can be simplified as the data communication system overall. SOLUTION: This data communication apparatus 11 is provided with a PIAFS 15 and a data buffer 14. The apparatus 11 converts a protocol of PHS data once into that of a data signal upon the reception of the PHS data signal and stores the resulting data to the data buffer 14. The apparatus 11 converts a protocol of the stores data signal into that of a PHS data signal and transmits the resulting signal in the case of relaying the received PHS data. The relay processing can be conducted, while staggering the reception processing and the transmission processing in their timings. One communication section is sufficient for the purpose and then the apparatus can be simplified. Furthermore, since the data communication apparatus 11 acts as a terminal adaptor and also like a repeater, the simplified data communication system is attained by adopting the data communication apparatus 11 to build up a communication network.
