PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a message recording time reporting system for portable telephone set with which a message can be exactly sent to the side of reception without stopping in the middle by setting a timer a little shorter than message recording time and notifying the end of recording beforehand to a message transmitter before end. SOLUTION: When a recipient is absent, a control part 21 generates the message of absence and transmits it through a radio part 22 to a transmission side portable telephone set 10 and further, the data of message recording time and recording starting tone are transmitted. After the message of absence is completely received, time a little shorter than the received recording time is set to a timer part 15, and timer operation is started. When time-out is detected from the timer part 15 by the control part 11 continuously during the transmission of message using a microphone 13, the previous end notice of recording time is reported through a speaker 14. Thus, the transmitter can complete the message before the end of recording time.
