PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize improvement in internal quantum efficiency and improvement in leading-out efficiency of light, and to obtain a light-emitting diode of high luminous efficiency at the same time. SOLUTION: In a light-emitting diode of a double heterostructure, a carrier injecting layer 3, a light-emitting layer 4, and a carrier confining layer 5, are laminated in order and arranged on a substrate 1, the carrier injecting layer 3 and the carrier confining layer 5 are formed of a material whose refractive index is smaller than that of the light-emitting layer 4, a light is led out from the carrier confining layer 5 side, and a leading-out path part of a light in the carrier confining layer 5 is eliminated. |
