PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP that an electric field across discharge electrodes when starting a plasma discharge does not leak out to an adjacent discharge display cell, that has many discharge display cells with an enhanced precision from which a stable and correct light emitting display with a decreased driving voltage between a discharge electrode and an address electrode, and that no distortion due to thermal expansion exists inside a barrier. SOLUTION: A plurality of discharge display cells 5 are composed of a pair of an insulated substrate forming a back panel 2 and a front panel 3 and a barrier 4 partitioning a space between a pair of insulated substrates. The barrier 4 is formed so that a porosity of the barrier 4 is lower at a front panel side 9 than a back panel side 10. A plurality of electrodes 6, 7 are provided inside the discharge display cell 5, and then a discharge gas is sealed. A voltage is applied between the electrodes 6, 7 to generate a plasma so as to make a phosphor 8 be luminous formed inner wall of the discharge display cell 5 to provide a light emitting element for an image display device. |
