PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable communication terminal that surely makes access to a base station within the service area, while eliminating useless power when the terminal stays outside the service area. SOLUTION: A GPS reception section 102 that receives a radio wave sent from a GPS satellite obtains a current position of its own terminal. Then the current position and a service area map that indicates an available range for the portable telephone terminal are referenced to discriminate whether or not the portable telephone terminal is available at the current position. When the current position is outside the service area, the power control is stopped for a radio communication section. The detection of the current position is continued so as to automatically restart supply of power to the radio communication section, when the portable telephone terminal falls within the service area again. |
