One skate is provided for each foot of the user, comprising one skid (1). The skid is 35-60 cm long and 2-4 cm wide. The front end of the skid is curved upwards and has coupling devices (3,5,6) for attachment to the shoe (4) of the skater.Each coupling device may comprise a coupling plate (3) and ski bindings (5,6). They may also comprise a coupling rail and latches for fastening shoes. The fastenings in each case may be integral parts of the skate shoes
