摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent flickering on a display surface and to provide a liquid crystal element with excellent display characteristics by executing a rubbing processing to an oriented film in an oblique direction to respective picture elements as an area opposing a transparent electrode and providing a light shielding part inside a picture element corner part on the upstream side of a rubbing direction. SOLUTION: The oriented film to which the rubbing processing is executed is formed on respective substrates so as to make the rubbing direction 83 be equivalent to the oblique direction to the picture elements of a quadrilateral so as to optimize the oriented state of liquid crystal. At the time, an inversion defective domain to be attenuated along with write time or to fluctuate in size is present at a corner part on the upstream of the rubbing direction 83 inside the respective picture elements, that is on the departure side of a rubbing advancing direction. Thus, by providing the light shielding part 85 for covering the inversion defective domain generated at the picture element corner part, the influence on display of the inversion defective domain is prevented. Thus, flickering is prevented and contrast is improved. Also, it is desirable to turn the area of the light shielding part 85 to be <=10% of the display part 82 of the picture element.
