<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of malfunction even for a special video signal by determining the moving direction of a focusing lens according to plural focus values outputted from a focus value calculating means and controlling a focusing motor driving part. SOLUTION: An inputted video signal is subjected to filtering by a first and second filters 160a, 160b having frequency bands being different from each other. When the filtered video signal has multiple foci, a first and second focus region designating parts 162a, 162b make only a video signal in a specified spacial region pass through. A first and second adding parts 164a, 164b add only the video signals included in the frequency band for every field or for every frame and output a first and second focus values. The second focus value is divided by the first focus value by a divider unit 166 and a third focus value is outputted. The moving direction of the focusing lens is judged by using the third focus value and focusing is performed by driving the focusing lens motor.</p> |
