In order, in a simple manner, to achieve full balancing of masses of a built-up camshaft, the cams of which have a cam lobe 3 and an axial bore 4 for the passage of a shaft and are connected positively or non-positively to the shaft, the cams 2 are provided, on their side opposite the cam lobe 3, with at least one axial extension 5 in the form of a half shell which partially surrounds the shaft and serves as a balancing mass.
