ELECTROLYTE FOR LITHIUM CELLS AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

A method of removing water content and free acids in an electrolyte for a lithium cell, and an electrolyte for a lithium cell having a small water content and a small free acid content; the method characterized by comprising (a) a step for lowering the water content by heating a solvent and vaporizing the water together with the solvent while blowing an inert gas into the solvent having a water content of not higher than 100 ppm, and (b) a step for dissolving the lithium electrolyte by maintaining the temperature of the solvent at 20 DEG C or lower, making it possible to decrease the water content to 3 ppm or smaller and the free acid content to less than 1 ppm.
