N-phosphoryloxymethyl prodrugs of tertiary amine containg drugs having the following formula (VIa) or (VIb), wherein R1, R2 and R3 are substituents which comprise the parent tertiary or secondary amine, R4 and R5 are each an organic or inorganic residue, R6 is a group double bonded to the carbon spacer and X is a cationic organic or inorganic salt.
