<p>The invention relates to an object shaped from the melt from a copolyester composition, the copolyester of which consists of units derived from ethylene glycol and 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid and 4,4'-diphenyldicarboxylic acid, the copolyester having a high molecular weight, i.e. a relative viscosity of at least 1.8. The object of the invention is characterized by properties that are comparable with those of an object made from a copolyester composition, the copolyester of which belongs to the group comprising liquid crystalline copolyesters. The stiffness is exceptionally high, e.g. the HDT of non-reinforced copolyester amounted to 250 °C. Another property differing from corresponding liquid crystalline copolyester objects is the absence of the weak weld line that is characteristic of liquid crystalline polyesters.</p> |
