<p>A convertible sports and exhibition facility (2) includes stadium (Figure 1) and arena configurations (Figures 7a and 7b). Playing fields (14) or surfaces (16 or 18) are provided for both the stadium and arena configurations, with at least a portion of the stadium playing field (14) being removable to provide a lower playing surface in the arena configuration. A seating system (6) includes opposite pairs of end (20a and 20b) and side (20c and 20d) seating sections. The stadium configuration end seating sections (20a and 20b) become the arena configuration side seating sections and portions of the stadium side seating sections (20c and 20d) become the arena end seating sections when the facility is converted from a stadium configuration to an arena configuration. The facility includes a roof (42) with an adjustable-height ceiling portion (36) with a raised stadium position and a lowered arena position. The facility also includes circulation (7), structure (10) and support systems (12).</p> |
