<p>A bale wire tying apparatus (28) is provided to be used in conjunction with a baling press (10) for tying looped ends (24, 26) of lengths of bale wire (22) together around a compressed bale (16). The bale wire tying apparatus (28) is formed by an elongated generally U-shaped channel member (30). The channel member (30) generally includes an open wire releasing slot (38) and a knot release opening (40) which may be closed off by a knot release door (42). A loop securing element (56) and various inner sloped wire loop guide surfaces (50, 60, 62, 64) are provided for guiding the looped ends (24, 26) into tying engagement. Methods for tying pre-formed looped ends of lengths of bale wire (22) using such a bale wire typing apparatus (28) are also provided.</p> |
