The present invention discloses a marine seismic system (10) with a control system (20) and at least one powered (manned or unmanned) tow vehicle (30) with at least one seismic apparatus or system attached (21) thereto, the at least one powered tow (30) vehicle for selectively towing under its own power the at least one seismic apparatus (30) or system in one aspect such towing is done in controlled conjunction (40) with movement of one or more host vessels (20) in another aspect such a marine seismic system (10) includes at least one service boat (40) for servicing the at least one power tow vehicle (30).
