NOVEL IMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVES

Novel imidazole derivatives represented by general formula (I) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof: (wherein R<1> is hydrogen, optically substituted alkyl or the like; R<2> is hydrogen, optically substituted alkyl or the like; R<3> is optically substituted heteroaryl; and R<4> is optically substituted cycloalkyl, optically substituted phenyl or the like, provided that when R<1> is hydrogen and R<2> is phenyl or phenyl substituted with halogeno, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy, R<3> is benzothiazolyl or phenyl-substituted benzothiazolyl). The above derivatives and salts exhibit an inhibitory activity against the production of IL-4 and IL-5 form Th2 cells, and are therefore useful as preventive and therapeutic agents for allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis, bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis.
