At least one shear blade (16) has an elastically bendable section (31) extending from the axis of rotation in the direction of knife edges (19,29), and keeps the edges biased in contact when the scissors are closed. The shear blades (16,17) abut boundary surfaces (12,13) running at an angle to the axis of rotation. The instrument may have a bipolar connector (5) for electrical connections to each shear blade to permit both cutting and obliteration functions.
