<p>The present invention provides a composition for the purification of water comprised of components that effectively remove a wide spectrum of contaminants from the water. The invention is particularly useful in that it extends the efffective lifespan of water filters containing the composition compared to presently available water filter compositions. The composition is comprised of an effective amount of absorbent granules, an ion exchange resin, and a biostatic-coated carbon material. The invention provides structural elements for use of the composition, and methods for treating the water with the composition.</p> |
