The suction appliance (1) has a decoder (11) working in conjunction with the coder, for identifying the coded diameter data. The adjustment of the respective suction hose diameter, at the suction appliance, is carried out based on the coding data. The data is identified in a decoder. The decoder is an electric transmitter-receiver. The coder fitted externally of the hose is in the form of a passive transponder.
