The basic principles for the construction of sliding windows, especially for driver's cabins for tractors and machines, have hitherto comprised at least one framing (16) of the underside of the window, co-operating with and sliding on profiled strips (2) secured to the sides facing the driver's cabin. Among the disadvantages of this construction can be mentioned, e.g. extensive assembly operations with the profiled strips, and the fitting of slide pieces (22) inbetween the strips and facing frame sides on the driver's cabin. Another considerable disadvantage consists of the establishing of drainage slots, in that the surfaces of the metal strips must be given subsequent treatment to prevent corrosion. There is disclosed a driver's cabin which comprises at least one sliding window (62, 64) which is guided and mounted <u>directly</u> in a plastic profile moulding (56) comprising one or more parallel grooves (58, 60), said profiled moulding also comprising longitudinal locking tags (66) and locking grooves (70) which are inserted in co-operating connection in longitudinal locking grooves (48) and locking recesses (52) in profiled support rails (40) secured to the side of the cabin construction. The advantages herewith are that the strip-framing of the sliding windows becomes super-fluous and that the drainage slots can be established without the need for subsequent surface treatment.
