A lock assembly, attachable to one sash of a double-hung sash window and which is able to lock the one sash against another sash, comprises at least two spaced apart remote locks 24 which are operated by a central control 20. The remote locks 24 have at least a lock tongue 26, which is pivotally fastened relative to the one sash and which is operable between a locking position where the lock tongue locks the sashes together and an unlocking position, and a slide member 21, which is operatively associated with the lock tongue and which can slide between a locking position and an unlocking position. The lock assembly has at least one connecting means (rod 35) to allow the central control to operate the remote locks. The connecting means is attached relative to the slide member and the central control such that operation of the central control causes sliding movement of the slide member in each remote lock. The assembly may include a lock 22, 23 to releasably hold a sash against its sash guide 13, the lock 22, 23 having an outer housing 37 protecting the lock tongue 26 of the remote lock 24 and an inner body 38 with an end face 40 provided with a projection 41. The lock 22, 23 is moveable between a retracted locking position where the inner body 38 is mostly within the outer housing and the projection extending into the sash guide and an extended unlocking position where the inner body is pivoted out of the outer housing and the projection pivoted out of the sash guide. |
