Modified hydrocarbon resin with properties suitable for fast-drying gravure printing ink binder

Modified hydrocarbon resins consist of units derived from at least one compound selected from: (A) cyclopentadiene and its compounds, (B) (B) natural resin, natural resin acids, fatty acids and fatty acid esters, (C) (C) alpha , beta -unsaturated carboxylic acids and their anhydrides, (D) (D) phenols and (E) (E) aldehydes. The resins are obtained by reacting (A) with (B) and then with (C), (D) and (E) at 100-300 deg C, with elimination of water. An Independent claim is also included for the preparation of the resins.
