The exercise frame (1) has drive mechanisms (3,4,6) operated by the arms or legs of the user to drive an air screw or propeller (2) about a vertical axis. The drive mechanism comprises a gearing and shaft (4) driving the screw (2). The driving mechanism gear has cone wheels (32) on a common axis and a cone pinion (31) engaging therewith and connected to the shaft (4) driving the screw. The frame is held movable about a certain vertical distance by buoyancy means.
