Compounds represented by general formula (1) which act, either alone or simultaneously in combination with each other, on serotonin receptors and thus contribute to the treatment and prevention of various diseases seemingly caused by abnormalities in the central and periphery serotonin regulatory systems and medicinal compositions containing compounds: (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e) wherein R1 represents hydrogen, etc.; R2 represents hydrogen, etc.; n is an integer of 2 to 6; and .alpha. represents (a) to (e) as given above; in the formulae (a) and (b), R3 represents hydrogen, etc.; X represents NR10, etc. (wherein R10 represents hydrogen, etc.); and Y represents methylene, etc.; in the formula (c), R4 represents hydrogen, etc.; R5 represents hydrogen, etc.; k is an integer of 0 to 3; m is an integer of 0 to 3; and A and B represent each a group forming a specific ring via a double bond; and in the formulae (d) and (e), R4 is as defined above; G represents CH2, etc.; D represents CH, etc.; p is an integer of 1 to 3; E and J represent each a group forming a benzene ring or a pyridine ring via a double bond; and R6 and R7 independently represent each hydrogen, etc.
