A wireless telephone device and method for its control by which a base station which is most advantageous in view of position registration or line connection can be selected in consideration of the propagation loss by a terminal. A transmission output information signal representing the transmission output level of the base station is added to the control signal which is transmitted from the base station to a mobile device which corrects the RSSI level of the received wave in accordance with the transmission output information signal and selects a base station which is most advantageous in view of the position registration or the line connection. Thus, the propagation loss is taken into account in this selection. <IMAGE>
