[Class 83 (iii)] A metal-cutting tool is provided with a chip controller and breaker 6 having two hard metal faces set at an angle of more than 90‹ but less than 180‹ to each other, one of said faces 11 being adapted to curl a chip and the other 12 to break the curled chip. The chip controller &c. is of channel form and is adapted to overlie the cutting tip 5, which may be of cemented carbide, and retain the tip in position when the securing screws 7, 8 are tightened. The tip is adjusted prior to clamping by means of a rod 3 with a screwed end 4. |
