Direction control for motor of electric vehicle

The direction control for an electric motor used to power an electric vehicle has a lever (16) for forward and reverse together with a central neutral position. The lever has a linkage coupled to a rod that is located in guides (36) and has an activator element that is detected by a pair of sensors that provide signal for forward and reverse. The sensor outputs are used by the motor power electronics.
