The invention relates to indicating progress toward or away from selection of a menu option from a dwell selectable menu and to interactive displays and interactive display methods for use by persons temporarily or permanently lacking normal motor capabilities. A particular dwell selectable region is at least partially delimited with respect to a display area. A movement related signal responsive to user movement is received, intersecting the particular region. The duration of dwell time is indicated, preferably by continuously brightening the particular region e.g. 3103 or an indicator e.g. 3203 associated therewith, while the user dwells on the particular region. Selection is preferably indicated by changing the hue of the particular region. The duration of the dwell period required for selection or a region may vary with the directness of the path taken to that region.
