A toothed belt being excellent in durability and less noisy during drive and having a foundation cloth (2) stuck along meshing surfaces (5), characterized in that yarns of the foundation cloth (2) extending in a lengthwise direction of the toothed belt comprise a plurality of false twist yarns twisted in the same direction of false twisting, and the yarns and yarns intersecting them are woven in twill weave formation on both surfaces, and that surfaces of the foundation cloth (2) where the false twist yarns are less exposed are exposed outside.
