PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and surely prevent generation of defective shape such as center buckle and edge wave by specifying a working amount on a thin steel strip using a recessed or projecting crown spool with a spool fitted in a tension reel in winding a rolled thin steel strip by a tension reel. SOLUTION: A working amount of a thin steel strip by a recessed crown spool satisfies a formula I, and a working amount of a thin steel strip by a projecting crown spool satisfies a formula II. In the formulas: a is thickness difference between a thinest part at a center part in the axial direction and a thickest part at an end part in the axial direction of the recessed crown spool, b is thickness difference between a thickest part at a center part in the axial direction and a thinest part at an end part in the axial direction of the projecting crown spool, R is outer diameter of spool, n is number of winding of the thin steel strip, to is thickness of the thin steel strip at a center part in the width direction. c is crown ratio expressed by (to -te )/to (provided that te is thickness of the thin steel strip at the end in the width direction),σy is yield stress of the thin steel strip, F is winding tensile force of the thin steel strip, E is Young's modulus of the thin steel strip.
