PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ion exchange resin using divinylbiphenyl as a crosslinking monomer having excellent regeneration efficiency and a low production rate of turbidity by using a crosslinked copolymer prepared by copolymn. of a specified polymerizable monomer and a vinyl monomer copolymerizable with the first monomer. SOLUTION: This ion exchange resin is extremely effective not only for desalination of normal water but for production of ultrapure water. The resin is prepared by introducing ion exchange groups into a crosslinked copolymer produced by copolymn. of a polymerizable monomer expressed by formula by 0.1 to 99 mol.% and a vinyl monomer by 99.9 to 1 mol.% which is copolymerizable with the first monomer. In this method, the main component of the vinyl monomer is styrene, and the ion exchange groups are sulfonic acid groups or quaternary ammonium groups (-N<+> R1 R2 R3 X, wherein R1 to R3 are 1-4C alkyl group or alkanol groups, and X is an anion). The water content in the ion exchange resin is controlled to <=50 wt.%. |
