PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new recombinant protein having a specific amino acid sequence, having the activity of an enzyme for synthesizing decaprenyl diphoshate, and useful for producing the decaprenyl diphosphate and ubiquinone-10 which is an electronic transmission system component, etc. SOLUTION: This recombinant protein comprises a protein comprising an amino acid sequence of the formula or an amino acid sequence of the formula wherein at least one amino acid is deleted, replaced or added, and having the activity of an enzyme for synthesizing decaprenyl diphosphate. The new recombinant protein is useful for producing decaprenyl diphosphate metabolized into the prenyl side chain of ubiquinone-10 which is a component of an electronic transmission system produced by bacteria, etc. The new recombinant protein is obtained by screening a genome DNA library originating from a soil bacterium: Paracoccus denitrificans with a probe comprising a fragment amplified by a PCR using the genome DNA as a template, and subsequently expressing the obtained gene in an expression vector. |
