PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricant component capable of manifesting excellent abrasion resistance, dispersing actions, thermal stability and oxidative stability and stable to hydrolysis by including a mixture of specific anisoles therein. SOLUTION: This lubricant contains a mixture of a mono-alkylated anisole with a di and a tri-alkylated anisoles having a structure of the formula (R<a> to R<c> are each H and at least one thereof is an 8-24C secondary alkyl). The alkylated anisole product is obtained by bringing anisole and an olefinic alkylating agent feed stream containing an 8-24C monoolefin into contact with an acidic alkylating catalyst in an alkylating zone under alkylating conditions. As for uses of additives, the product containing at least 50 wt.% of the dialkylated or the trialkylated substance is preferred. |
