PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink tank capable of detecting the residual amt. of ink with high accuracy by directly detecting the residual amt. of the ink in the ink tank, a recording apparatus using the ink tank, a facsimile apparatus using the recording apparatus and a method for detecting the residual amt. of the ink in the ink tank. SOLUTION: A pair of electrodes 103 are provided to the side surfaces of an ink tank 102 housing conductive ink 101 in mutually opposed relationship and voltage is applied across the electrodes 103 and the output signal from a low-pass filter constituted of the capacitance between the electrodes or the capacitor and resistance thereof is measured and, according to the measuring result, it is judged whether ink remains in the ink tank 102. |
