PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the printing rate of data to be sent from a host computer by reducing the volume of such data and speeding up data communications in a printing device. SOLUTION: A printer 1 transfers print dataϕ2 converted into a bit image which is sent from a host computer 2 to a first image buffer 11 in the direct memory access(DMA) mode and stores the print dataϕ2 in the first image buffer 11. Next, a second image buffer 12 alone or the second and a third image buffer 12, 13 are prepared based on a process commandϕ1 to be sent together with the print dataϕ2 and the print dataϕ2 stored in the first image buffer 11 is stored into the prepared image buffers while being stretched. Printing is performed by a printing meachism 4 according to the print data processed by stretching. Consequently, it is possible to reduce the volume of the print data converted into a bit image which is sent from the host computer side and therefore, speed up data communications to improve the printing rate.
