The invention relates to an apparatus for removing a border strip external of a contour cut in a glass panel. The apparatus comprises a suction pad (8) for lifting a glass panel from a support or for pressing the same against a support, a removing finger (6) in the vicinity of the suction pad, and handling elements (10, 11) for maneuvering the suction pad and the removing finger in vertical direction. The removing finger (6) is journalled to be rotatable around a suction pad shaft (14c) by means of drive motor (1). The apparatus can also be fitted with a cutting wheel (5) for cutting initial incisions in the border strip to be removed.
