PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a nematic liquid crystal improved in a temperature change in operation potential, an to provide a liquid crystal display using the liquid crystal. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal composition comprises (A) a liquid crystal component of the formula [R<11> is a 1-10C linear alkyl or alkoxy; X<11> is a 1-10C linear alkyl, H, F, Cl or CF3 ; Y<11> is H, F or Cl; Y<12> is a 3-10C linear alkyl or a 2-10C alkoxy; Z<11-13> are each a single bond, COO or C≡C; (k<1> ) and (k<2> ) are each 0 or 1; rings A<11-13> are each a (substituted with F) 1,4-phenylene ring or pyrimidin-2,5-diyl ring], (B) a 10-99.9 wt.%, liquid crystal component composed of any compounds havingΔεof >=+42 and (C) a 0-70 wt. % liquid crystal component composed of any compounds havingΔεfrom -2 to +2, where the total of respective contents of the component B and the compont C is 50-99.9 wt.%.
