PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fiber composite with high heat resistance and high Young's modulus, excellent in adhesion to matrix resin, by regulating the crystallite size of the filament and adhesive impregnation level within specific ranges, respectively. SOLUTION: This p-phenylene terephthalamide fiber composite with the crystallite size (110-face) of >=50Åis obtained by the following procedures: a poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide sulfuric acid solution is spun and neutralized, and then either cut or fibrillated by machine work so as to come to 50-5,000 in aspect ratio in such a state that the crystallite size (110-face) of the filament is <50Åand the water content of the filament is 15-200 wt.%; the resulting filament is impregnated with an adhesive, i.e., at least one kind of compound selected from the group consisting of epoxy group-contg. compounds, isocyanate group-contg. compounds and silane coupling agents, so as to be 0.1-10.0 wt.% in adhesive impregnate amount; the filament thus impregnated is subsequently dehydrated to a water content at <15 wt.% and then heat-treated at 100-500 deg.C. |
