PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reconcile the service property and economic property of elevator operation by measuring the load within a car and determining the operating speed profile of the car on the basis of the load within the car. SOLUTION: An elevator 12 has a cab 16 provided within a car frame 18, a balancing weight 20 and a rope 22 extended between the car frame 18 and the balancing weight 20, and a car 24 is formed of the cab 16 and the car frame 18. When the mass of the car 24 is Mcar , the mass of the balancing weight 20 is Mcwt , the maximum load mass of the elevator is Q, the elevator is designed so as to satisfy the expression of Mcwt <Mcar +(A×Q), (0<A<0.4). The elevator is also provided with a load measuring device 32 for measuring the load Mmcas of the car 24, and the operation of the car is controlled by use of a general speed profile in case of Mmcas <=(Z×A)×Q (Z is a multiplier, A is % balancing), and a second operating speed profile in Mmcas >(Z×A)×Q (Z>=1). |
