摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the compatibility of a lubricating oil composition comprising a dispersing agent containing basic nitrogen atoms with a fluorocarbon elastomer seal by compounding a specific dithioethylene derivative. SOLUTION: This agent is obtained by compounding an effective amount (about 0.05-5%, preferably about 0.1-2% based on the total weight of the composition) of a compound represented by formula I (R and R<1> are each an alkoxycarbonyl, an alkenyloxycarbonyl or the like or R and R<1> together with the carbon atom to which both are bonded form a carbocyclic ring; R<2> and R<3> are each an alkyl sulfide, an alkoxycarbonylalkyl or the like, with the proviso that R and R<1> to R<3> together contain carbon atoms sufficient to provide an oil-soluble compound in an oil having a lubricating viscosity). The compound represented by formula I in which R<2> is same as R<3> is produced by reacting, e.g. the corresponding bis(2,2-thioate) metal salt [a compound represented by formula II (M is a metal cation)] with the corresponding halide represented by the formula R<2> X (X is a halogen or the like).
