PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water soluble lubricant having a good water dispersion stability and lubricating property, and capable of providing a non-combustible lubricant or a pressure medium exhibiting less environmental pollution. SOLUTION: This water soluble lubricant contains a polycarboxylic acid obtained by heating and reacting a polyene fatty acid not essentially containing hydroxyl group and/or a monoene fatty acid containing hydroxyl group or a dehydration condensate thereof with an unsaturated carboxylic acid having 3-12 carbon number or an anhydride thereof, and a base as indispensable components. |
