PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound capable of selectively exhibiting excellent binding affinity forα2 -, especiallyα2 B-adrenalin receptor, and useful as a medicine for treating hypertension, obesity, diabetes, glaucoma, etc., SOLUTION: A compound (salt) of formula I X is O or methylene chain; Y and Z are each H, or Y and Z may be bound to each other to form a 2-3C alkylene group; R<1> is H, a halogen or a lower alkyl; R<2> is H, a (branched or cyclic) alkyl; R<3> is a group of the formula: CO2 R<4> (R<4> is H or a lower alkyl)(R'), a group of the formula: CONR<5> R<6> [R<5> and R<6> are each H, a (branched) alkyl or the like] or the like; (a) is 0-2; (b) is 1-4}. For example, 3-( 1-[(2,3-dihydro-1,4- benzodioxin-2-yl)methyl]piperidin-4-yl}amino)propionic acid ethyl ester. The compound of compound I (R<3> is R') is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II (R<11> is R<2> ) with a compound of the formula: CH2 =CHCO2 R<12> (R<12> is a lower alkyl).
