摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cell having high initial discharge capacity and recycling characteristics by using lithium manganate in a cubic particle form having pores in the particle as the positive electrode material. SOLUTION: This lithium manganate is expressed by Lix Mny O4 (x/y ranging 0.3 to 1.5) such as LiMn2 O4 in a cubic particle form of 0.01 to 10 &mu;m particle size and has pores in the particle and 1 to 100 m<2> /g specific surface area. This powder is mixed and kneaded with a carbon conducting agent such as a graphite powder, and a binder such as polyethylene tetrafluoride or the like. The mixture is compacted to obtain a positive electrode of a lithium cell. The lithium manganate is produced by reacting a soluble manganese compd. such as manganese sulfate with an alkali such as potassium hydroxide in a water medium, adding potassium peroxodisulfate to the water medium containing manganese hydroxide thus produced for hydroxide to produce lithium manganate, and firing at 250 to 800 deg.C.
